Our client is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join their team and work in an ever-evolving industry with frequent tax legislation changes. This direct hire role is located in Springfield, VA, (offering a hybrid schedule with some remote days) and is your opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging organization that is highly focused on results. Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and record monthly and annual tax provisions and federal/state income tax returns.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes.
• Develop and maintain support schedules for all tax attributes, temporary and permanent differences within tax provisions, and reconcile relevant accounts.
• Prepare and manage tax basis balance sheets and deferred tax inventory.
• Collaborate to optimize and enhance existing processes, leveraging automation wherever possible.
• Generate tax-sharing journal entries to ensure accurate allocation of tax liabilities.
• Promptly address inquiries from tax authorities, as well as internal and external auditors.
• Possess knowledge of pre-tax GAAP accounting for both regulated and non-regulated operations, staying informed about energy industry trends and multi-jurisdictional retail rate matters.
• Analyze outcomes of the financial reporting process to ensure alignment with tax requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
• A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant tax accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 firm or in a corporate setting.
• Proficiency in tax provision software, such as Corptax or Onesource, and the ability to leverage analytical software for process automation.
• Familiarity with the utilities industry and its specific tax considerations is a plus.
