Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior ServiceNow Engineer to join our client’s team in Arlington, VA. In this role you will lead the development, integration, and maintenance of ServiceNow solutions to support customer service, cybersecurity, and GRC processes, ensuring secure, compliant, and effective data management, migration, and reporting while collaborating with teams, guiding best practices, and delivering clear technical updates to stakeholders. This position is fully on-site.

 

Per our client contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens, possessing an Active Secret Clearance with eligibility to obtain a final Top Secret.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and ongoing support of ServiceNow solutions to enhance customer service, data collection, and GRC operations.
  • Integrate and manage diverse data repositories to provide global users with streamlined access to reports and cybersecurity findings.
  • Develop migration strategies for systems and data stores, creating dashboards that help users identify, assess, and address cyber risks.
  • Partner with software development teams to determine and implement optimal migration routes and integration approaches for new and existing platforms.
  • Ensure all solutions meet Department standards for security, compliance, and system performance.
  • Design, configure, and tailor ServiceNow workflows and modules to align with specific business and technical needs.
  • Offer technical leadership on ServiceNow best practices, mentoring the team through complex challenges and system improvements.
  • Engage in Agile sprints, contributing to the planning, execution, and successful delivery of ServiceNow-focused projects.
  • Present clear, concise technical updates and briefings to internal and external stakeholders to drive understanding of project status, outcomes, and solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience, or 13 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 7 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably with a strong focus on ServiceNow.
  • Ability to obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire:
    • CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, VCA DCV, PPDA, Agile IC, or ServiceNow Application Developer.
  • Advanced knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, including development, configuration, and administration capabilities.
  • Strong development skills with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with external systems using RESTful and SOAP APIs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud services and their integration with ServiceNow environments.
  • Experience utilizing key ServiceNow modules such as:
    • IT Service Management (ITSM)
    • IT Operations Management (ITOM)
    • IT Business Management (ITBM)
    • Security Operations (SecOps)
    • HR Service Delivery (HRSD)
  • Solid understanding of Agile and Scrum frameworks, including experience with requirements analysis and decomposition.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in ServiceNow technologies.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active Secret security clearance required, with the ability to obtain a final Top-Secret clearance.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working within government or federal environments.
  • Strong background in IT Service Management (ITSM) and enterprise architecture.
  • Expertise in designing and deploying scalable, secure ServiceNow solutions.
  • Familiarity with advanced ServiceNow modules such as:
    • Customer Service Management (CSM)
    • Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies and tools, including CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of microservices architectures and best practices.
  • Understanding of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Holding one or more of the following ServiceNow certifications:
    • Certified System Administrator
    • Certified Application Developer
    • Certified Application Specialist
    • Certified Implementation Specialist (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD)
    • Certified Technical Architect

 

Job Requirements

Compensation
The compensation for this role is up to $136,000, based on experience and qualifications.
