Our client is a family-owned and operated firm and one of the nation's largest wholesale distributors of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) equipment, parts, and supplies. In 2021 they reached a $1Billion milestone in sales.  They have been in business for 85 years and are operating in more than 300 locations. 

They have a newly created opportunity for a talented Information Security Analyst who will plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor security protocols for the protection of the organization’s computer networks and information.  This position requires working onsite in Glen Burnie, MD. frequent interactions and face-to-face with co-workers and/or vendors.

This position can be direct hire or contract to hire and requires you to possess U.S. Citizenship or hold a valid Green Card. Since the position is working onsite, being local to Maryland is required.  

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with users to discuss computer data access needs, to identify security threats and violations, and to identify and recommend needed programming or process changes
• Use data encryption, firewalls, and other appropriate security tools and applications to conceal and protect transfers of confidential digital information
• Develop and implement plans to safeguard digital data from accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure
• Review violations of security procedures; provide training to ensure violations do not recur
• Monitor and restrict access to sensitive, confidential, or other high-security data
• Modify security files and applications as able and necessary to provide specialized access, allow new software to be installed or integrated, or correct errors
• Perform risk assessments, audits, and tests to ensure proper functioning of data processing activities and security measures
• Safeguard system security and improve overall server and network efficiency by training users and promoting security awareness
• Determine when to update virus protection systems by monitoring current reports of computer viruses

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Programming, or a related field required; M.B.A. in Information Systems preferred
• 3+ years of experience in computer systems with some specialization in computer security
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proficient with a broad array of security software applications and tools
• Experience developing, refining, and performing advanced analysis to uncover new or potential incidents and report on results
• Thorough understanding of computer-related security systems including firewalls, encryption, and password protection and authentication
• Experience in assessing threat indicators (e.g. Malware/Malicious Anomalies/Abnormal network Activity/Root Level Compromise, etc.)
• An advanced understanding of current threats and trends present in the Information Security and technology field
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organized with attention to detail
• Must possess U.S. Citizenship or hold a valid Green Card and work at the Glen Burnie, MD location
