IT Project Manager

Job Description
Our client is a family-owned and operated firm and one of the nation's largest wholesale distributors of heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) equipment, parts, and supplies. In 2021 they reached a $1Billion milestone in sales. They have been in business for 85 years and are operating in more than 300 locations.
They have a newly created opportunity for a talented Information Technology (IT) Project Manager who will plan, establish, and manage information technology (IT) projects and serve as a liaison between the business and technical aspects of assigned projects. This position requires working onsite in Glen Burnie, MD. You will be a hands-on IT leader responsible for the build-out, improvement, maintenance, and administration of technical systems, including networks, employee devices, applications, security, availability, and reliability.
This position can be direct hire or contract to hire and requires you to possess U.S. Citizenship or hold a valid Green Card. Since the position is working onsite, being local to Maryland is required.
Responsibilities
- Assign duties and responsibilities and oversees workflow of department staff
- Oversee the day-to-day workflow of the department
- Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handle discipline and termination of employees as needed
- Manage assigned IT projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope of project
- Develop, maintain, and revise proposals for assigned projects including project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications, timelines, funding, and staffing
- Set and track project milestones; manage and account for unforeseen delays, then realigns schedules and expectations as needed
- Establish and implement project communication plans, providing status updates to affected staff and stakeholders
- Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends as needed to prepare project status reports
- Manage technology systems and all related projects
- Oversee IT support, including prioritizing and troubleshooting issues and engaging vendors if needed
- Manage IT staff through recruiting, coaching, and effectively communicating job expectations
- Analyze the business requirements of all programs and departments to determine their technology needs and establish plans to meet those needs
- Translate business needs into system, software, and reporting requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree - Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related
- 5+ years of experience managing technology
- 3+ years of supervisory experience required
- Thorough understanding of project management principles and planning
- Thorough understanding of information technology procedures and practices
- Proficient with, or able to quickly become proficient with, a range of general and specialized applications, software, and hardware used in the organization and the industry
- Excellent analytical, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Ability to motivate groups of people to complete a project in a timely manner
- IT infrastructure experience including knowledge and management of networks, servers, copiers, printers, telephony, desktops, enterprise software, etc.
- Proven ability to create effective policies and procedures that promote technology acceptance while enforcing security and best practices
- Capable of communicating complex, technical topics to a wide variety of clients and team players
- Ability to interact with senior management and establish relationships across the organization
- Must possess U.S. Citizenship or hold a valid Green Card and work at the Glen Burnie, MD location
