Our client is a family-owned and operated firm and one of the nation's largest wholesale distributors. They have been in business for 85 years with sales offices located across the Southern, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeastern regions of the country. They have a Direct Hire opening for a talented Controller to plan and direct the accounting operations for the company.

Per our client contract, candidates must possess U.S. Citizenship or hold a valid Green Card. The position requires face-to-face interaction with co-workers, so working onsite at their Glen Burnie location is required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles
• Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance
• Responsible for making sure checks are issued from Accounts Payable in a timely fashion
• Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management
• Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Administration
• 10+ years of related experience is required
• Proven ability to maintain the financial stability, strength, and liquidity of the organization
• Work in a frequently stressful work environment and meet deadlines as assigned
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• CPA or Certified Management Accountant designation is required
• Must possess U.S. Citizenship or hold a valid Green Card and work at the Glen Burnie, MD location
