Program Coordinator - Utility GIS - Work Management Transformation

Job Description

Our client serves over 1 million customers in the DMV.  They are looking for a Program Coordinator with a proven track record of success as a results-driven team member. The ideal candidate will have consultative and client-focused experience, strong organizational skills, and experience coordinating multiple work streams in a complex digital project environment.  This role is remote, HOWEVER, candidates must be local to Washington, DC for occasional onsite presence.

 

Per our client contract, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.

 

Responsibilities

  • Utility Operations Transformation (UOX) projects, including GIS, Work Management, Asset Risk Management, and Data Foundations
  • Digital Program Coordinator:
    • Participate in defining and documenting the program vision, scope, governance, and benefits realization plan.
    • Manage and mitigate interdependencies, risks, issues, and changes that may affect program outcomes. Ensure alignment of program objectives and business goals across multiple workstreams.
    • Coordinate resources, stakeholders, communications, and reporting across projects within the program, ensuring alignment with project delivery methodology.
    • Work closely with project managers, sponsors, and the Program Leadership Team to provide support throughout the program lifecycle.
    • Prepare and maintain program documentation, including overall program plans, schedules, budget trackers, status reports, risk registers, change logs, and lessons learned.
    • Support Project Managers in coordinating the capture, release, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of related projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget and scope, and in compliance with quality standards and the Project Delivery Methodology.
    • Evaluate and report on the performance and benefits of projects and the program, providing recommendations for improvement and optimization.
    • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to project and program team members, fostering a positive and productive team culture.
    • Ensure compliance with Project Delivery Methodology (PDM), meet quality standards for deliverables, and coordinate with Portfolio Managers and Demand.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Information Technology program coordination.
  • Proven experience in coordinating multiple workstreams within a complex project environment.
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and persuasion skills, with the ability to manage and defuse tense situations effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex messages to diverse audiences at all organizational levels through both written and verbal formats, including small meetings and larger presentations.
  • Proficient in using computer software and applications, including advanced features of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, MS Project, and SharePoint for sharing, retrieving, researching, and presenting business information.
  • Track record of success as a results-oriented Program Coordinator.
  • Experience in consultative and client-focused roles.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from various sources, including upper management, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment across multiple business units, project vendors, and third-party service providers.
  • General understanding of GAAP O&M and Capital accounting practices and standards.
  • PMI, CMM, ISO, and/or CMMI certification preferred.
  • Utility experience preferred
  • Azure DevOps experience is a plus!
